Nipple tattooing is offered at the Institute for Advanced Breast Reconstruction, enabling patients to truly put the “finishing” touches on their breast reconstruction procedures. Along with our other breast reconstruction options, nipple tattooing helps our patients enjoy naturally reconstructed breasts after a mastectomy procedure.
When to Consider Nipple Tattooing
If you’re considering breast reconstructing on one or both breasts following a mastectomy procedure, nipple tattooing may be a great choice for you. We offer an option between 2D and what is known as 3D nipple tattooing, and Dr. Srinivasa will help you explore your choices before guiding you to the decision that’s right for you.
Nipple tattooing is typically performed three to four months after your reconstruction procedure, and the process begins with a consultation between you and your tattoo artist. Together, you’ll go over important details like shape, color, and the placement of your new nipple(s).
You’ll then go over what to expect in terms of pain management, while also signing any medical and allergy consent forms. This will be your chance to ask Dr. Srinivasa anything you might want to know about the procedure, so you can feel as comfortable and secure as possible.
